FAQ
What does Seongbunkok do?
Scan the barcode on a Korean packaged food, or search by name, to see the ingredient list filed with Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Food additives are picked out and named in English, with nutrition per 100 g and a 100-point reference score.
Which products does it cover?
Packaged foods sold in Korea: ramen, snacks, drinks, sauces and more. Ingredient lists come from Korean government food reports; photos and nutrition come from Open Food Facts.
How is the score calculated?
Out of 100. Sugar, saturated fat and sodium per 100 g are rated with the UK Food Standards Agency traffic-light criteria (60 points). Each additive takes 6 points off 30, except added vitamins and minerals. Organic products get 10. Without nutrition data there is no score.
Is it an official rating?
No. It is a reference value computed from public criteria, not an assessment by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Additives used in Korea are permitted under its standards.
Can I check allergens with it?
Use the English notes as a reading aid only. Always check the allergen box on the package; Korean labels list allergens separately.
Do I need an app or an account?
No. It runs in your phone browser with no sign-up. The barcode is read on your phone; the camera image is not uploaded.
